To my home,
How delighted I am to have you! We budgeted and planned carefully to buy you in 2019, and I am ever so glad we did.
I remember when my beloved would work from home on snow days in our little apartment. Trying to keep a toddler and a baby quiet in 900 square feet was…not really achievable.
Some days, it felt as if finding you would not be achievable either. Houses go quickly around here. We were going to take a day to think it over before placing our offer, but then our realtor called and said we needed to make a move quickly. Miraculously, our offer won over the others, and we moved into our new home a few weeks later.
So much happened in our home in 2019…many friends and relatives visited us. We attempted to set up a friend and failed in an epic fashion in your dining room. We then registered that same friend for a dating app in your spare bedroom. (Don’t worry, sweet Home: she is married now.)
The year 2020 brought a far smaller cast of characters to your walls, but it also brought time to bond, time to restore, and time to relax. I read more books than I had in years, visiting Hogwarts and Middle-Earth and Narnia from the comfort of your living room.
You are the only home our daughter has ever known. Indeed, you are one of about three indoor locations she has ever seen in her life.
As we celebrate two years with you this month, I reflect on life across the last couple of Marches. While things have changed, you have been a delightful place to land through it all.
Thanks, dear Home.
